  • $ 2 Million Urban Action (OPM) funds

  • Chronic flooding problems plagued the downtown area for more than a century  
City of Meriden
  • 1992 flood drives Canberra Industries away
 
  • City Center Initiative Plan funded by DECD released in 2005 identifying vision for the downtown
  • Economic development on the Hub site can only be realized after implementation of flood control
 
  • Abatement and demolition of the former 200,000 sf Hub building begun in December 2006
              
  • Redevelopment will focus on flood control, economic development, and creation of a new green space
